Devon Price - Partner

(download)

Coming from a small rural community in southwestern Virginia, Devon understands in his bones the rewards of real labor and love of the land.  His early exposure to proper food cultivation gives him unique insight into the world of food and wine and sustainable agriculture.
Devon has immersed himself in both the restaurant and wine distribution businesses for more than a decade, developing a deep knowledge and respect for the food and beverage industry. He has forged relationships with importers that have similar philosophies in life and in business. His passion for authentic wine that is not manipulated led him to found Sour Grapes and he looks forward to sourcing just the right wines for people who appreciate authenticity, value and excellence.

Lyndon Smith - Partner

You could say wine runs in Lyndon’s blood. His great uncle was a career wine taster for officers of the French Army and his great-great-grandfather produced wine in Brignoles, France. Through his French mother, Lyndon’s exposure to great wine began while he was still in his high chair and could only gurgle his appreciation.
Lyndon moved to Asheville to attend the University of North Carolina at Asheville and fell in love with the hills and the people and the “terroir” and he has never left.  Through running a successful internet marketing and pubishing business, Lyndon developed his skills and expertise in logistics and sales.  When he realized he could merge his skills with his passion for wine, he joined forces with Devon Price to form Sour Grapes.

Sarrah Wile - Partner

While Sarrah is new to the world of Sour Grapes her appreciation and passion for good food, wine and culture have been nurtured by her mother from a young age. Having grown up in a small, jaded town, it was primarily through her mother’s own worldly experience and advise that taught, encouraged and motivated Sarrah to explore a much broader world. After traveling across the states and Western Europe for a few years she found herself in Asheville, NC. Only shortly after committing to pursue her love of wine as a career she met Devon and Lyndon. In getting to know them and their wines as well as their personal and professional philosophies, it didn’t take her long to realize she had found her calling. Sarrah has adopted a holistic approach to life and strives to bring a sense of connection, integrity and enthusiasm to her surrounding environment. She is excited for the opportunity to educate and share her belief that quality and sustainability go hand in hand and it is her passion and commitment to excellence that drives her as a partner of Sour Grapes.

Laura Collier - Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill N.C. - Wine Educator

Laurapic
Laura's journey into the world of wine began while she was studying at UNC in Chapel Hill, when her parents moved to Germany and started discovering real wine, beyond what was available in an average U.S. grocery store.  She began working in a retail wine store in Chapel Hill, and then continued working in wine while studying law at Georgetown University.  After working for several years as an attorney in Washington, DC, Laura worked up the courage to follow her true passion, and left her job to return to North Carolina and pursue a career in wine.  She started working in the wine department of A Southern Season, where she met Lyndon and Devon and was introduced to the Sour Grapes portfolio of outstanding real wines.
